Hello dear readers- sorry I’ve gone missing for a bit after I completed the Dr. Who scarf. I guess I needed some time to recover. So much so that I find myself in Italy for a few weeks this summer. Well, I planned to be here…I wasn’t abducted or anything.
I haven’t gone out searching for too many yarn shops as I am too enthralled and busy with all the art, culture and scenery of this country. I mean there is so much of it everywhere you turn. Speaking of which, look at what I saw today! This is a copy of a fresco sitting in Santa Croce church in Florence (Firenze).
She’s got a spindle!!! How cool is that!?!?
I did manage to spot a couple of yarn shops so far- this one in Lucca.
This one in Florence.
I haven’t made any yarn purchases yet. It may not happen. I am spending a fair amount of money on espresso and gelato on a daily basis. Oh yeah, and a fair share on Campari based cocktails…
My summer travel knitting is moving along slowly for three reasons. The first being all the art distraction of course. The second being it is hell hot in Italy and when I do sit down to cool off, I don’t really want to handle my project even though it is very light yarn. Third is the project itself. Remember this? Scroll down to the bottom of the post to see where I left it last.
I’ve made some progress on it- almost three inches in length and I sewed the straps to the front side.
The bodice is a bit boring and slow. I will continue the stockinette stitch portion for an adequate amount, for modesty’s sake, and then switch to larger needles and a yet to be determined lace pattern until I run out of yarn. I have another ball of similar weight yarn in a different color I can incorporate once I run out of the brown.
Thanks for reading this far.
